Politics and Economics
What has happened to our basic economical, political beliefs? It used to be that Democrats loved to create programs, establish false markets, and basically just spend money. This form of governmental economics is great in times of a recession. It can create jobs, invest in new technologies, and spur society to reach a high level of living. Meanwhile, Republicans used to cut programs, create free uninterrupted markets, and slash spending. This form of governmental economics is great in times of good economical stability. Essentially this is what gets us out of the debt that the Democrats create. Somewhere, however, those basic and essential beliefs have been twisted. I blame Republicans because they have not lived up to their side of the bargain. They have spent just has much as the Democrats because they fear that by cutting programs and spending, they will upset their voters. On the other hand, I blame Democrats for not realizing you can't spend money all the time. Sometimes you have to pay the bills that are piling up. Now we are in the deepest recession in Americas history and we don't have the money to pull ourselves out of it. Right now we need a massive stimulus from the government. We have one in congress right now, but economists across the spectrum believe it's simply not big enough. But all our dear politicians are worried about is the debt it will create. Admittedly this is a very large amount of money but we have gotten out of worse situations. By the end of the depression and WWII our national debt was higher then our GDP and we were able to pay it all off. Right now our national debt is less then half of our GDP. I say we spend the money. Then, when we are out of these terrible times, Republicans can step in and do what they are supposed to have been doing all along.
